Smartphone Democracy urgently needs testing 2025 – in Ukraine and Syria perhaps?

Specific Plan – Author’s Personal Opinion

Both leaders, Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and Ahmed al-Sharaa of Syria are amazing people, willing daily to risk their life in pursuit of having a positive impact on removing terrible injustice from our planet. See further details from an earlier post (check).

The author however, is just an ordinary man, nothing special, nothing grand. I don’t come from a privileged background. I started getting a little more interested in politics a few years ago and in 2024, decided to established a blog.

Global change is so desperately needed. I decided I must start to play my part.

The human species has proved increasingly invincible in solving most technology issues over the last two centuries, but still appears completely and collectively hopeless in managing any sort of global moral compass. This is not due to an underlying collective human weakness in the humans species, but the specific consequence of a few corrupt individuals who control the planet with powerful inflexibility. The rest of the planet suffers and ultimately, we could all be annihilated from a nuclear threat, none of which will be from our own specific doing.

Let us all start to think more positive in 2025, making it a critical turning point for humanity and all the other
amazing lifeforms, currently living on our precious Planet.

The negative human wellbeing trend has significantly accelerated downwards over the last 25 years, beginning day one of year 2000.   At this time, if we could have collected data from the total world population about their views, what would be revealed on

  1. Collective feelings about on-going wars on our planet, good or bad?
  2. What would be their immediate demand, if they collectively knew they had been given the power to enforce a collective decision?
  3. Maybe, after 25 years, wars on planet earth would be fast becoming something of a distant memory, because it had been accepted.
  4. Inevitable disputes between countries are now fully resolved/accepted through an established and effective UN court system.

Not until now, has been impossible to pole 8 billion people to be able to find out this all important truth. The result, is that those powerful and corrupt people have remained free to continue with ‘business as usual’ unimpeded. However, for the rest of us, life on our precious planet continues to remain uncertain. This on-going uncertainty is so blatantly and obviously wrong to the very core. Why do we put up with it? It’s simply the lack of collective power. The daily threat of famine, persecution, torture even death, takes away every scrap of joy and happiness that comes from being alive.

To initiate significant change, we need to replace a massive chunk of the established and powerful politicians, Tech leaders, dictators, with an injection of brand new new blood – free from all the baggage of power and privilege that the rest of us are required to endure. Smartphone Democracy rules would maintain its everlasting solution for ever.

Any population, able to use good AI and today’s smartphone technology, knowing they now possess the real power to effect to the betterment of all humanity, not just themselves, would be furiously snapping up such a golden opportunity.

Phase One

Let’s give Ukraine and Syria the chance to trial Smartphone Democracy principles. Ahmed al-Sharaa of Syria has already said it will take at least three years for his country to get their constitution right. Perhaps if, with UN support,   we could speed up the process. Let’s also get the world media to focus on volumes of good news about this transition on an on-going basis, not just reporting in their own country but internationally as well. There is a lot at stake, with the whole world fascinated.

Doom and gloom in daily news, day in and out, is so disheartening. Lets get mankind thinking positive again.

We must all start seeing the glass getting half full – and filling fast!

The UN needs to play an important role, but its current glass ceiling, imposed by select politicians and lobbyists, must first get UP-lifted to use Smartphone Democracy rules, at least on this project. I believe, if all current UN members had a truly free vote (without prejudice) to support Ukraine and Syria, the 2/1 rule would be quickly achieved. The countries involved will need constant reassurance that fair play is delivered by UN staff and global media during the testing period, with the opportunity to have all disagreements negotiated openly in public, before an amical agreement is reached.

On the issues of creating an easy-to-use App for the voters to test the voting process, there are already potential AI voting systems including BlockVote, a publicly verifiable voting platform by Richard Bourner (UK), as well as Liquid Democracy created by Google. These and others must be explored fully by UN and a couple selected for the trial process (perhaps one for each country).

Syria and Ukraine are two countries that we already know have proved their competency using smartphone technology to repeatedly discover and reveal actual truths, so often hidden or mis-reported by those in power. Collecting data from the very same people that have suffered so much in the past is the only true way to assess ongoing evidence, good or bad.

Our hearts go out to every Syrian and Ukrainian who have endured unimaginable suffering under decades of oppressive rule.

Carpe Diem

John Lennon also wrote ‘all we are saying is give peace a chance‘.

This is the first step in the process.
